I am a black and white landscape photographer based in the Northeast of England in County Durham, where I am represented by Gallerina fine art gallery. Because of the control and unique quality I feel they give. I love using traditional equipment and techniques to create contemporary images. I am constantly inspired by the dramatic sometimes bleak landscapes of the Pennine fells which surround my home, I attempt to create pictures which draw from the changing mood and atmosphere of these environments. It is my aim to convey what it feels like to be there in the moment surrounded by the elements.

Rüdiger Beckmann (1969) has been working in Hamburg as an artistic photographer since 1998. Since 2005 he has exhibited and published regularly.
His body of work culminates in the 268-paged book "beyond vanity" issued in december 2010.

"photography is usually about appearances, but looks are often deceiving.
far more interesting than what a person poses to show initially is her actual self-consciousness. we gradually make room for honesty and credible emotion as we slowly get to know ourselves and each other. the most interesting pictures usually still lie ahead of us."

"I was born in 1980 in the north of Germany. After quit school I tried different jobs and cancelled two apprenticeships. Then I got my university admission and started studying "Visual Communication" in Weimar / Germany (until today).
I really like quality prints and I work with some medium format cameras and with a large format camera. But often I use toy-cams or self-made pinhole cameras. All my pictures are manipulated in the darkroom. I don't want to mirror the reality. I like grain, subjects out of focus, chaotic pictorial structures (I cannot control) and techniques e.g. lith printing, bleaching, toning, dodging, burning. When I bought my first camera 10 years ago I never took pictures of people. Today they are my main subject - but always touched from a distance."
