Location is a means of containing a subject within an indirect vehicle as a suggestive presence, the subject in turn can give the location a voice. I have been photographing the tanneries for several years now and with this series wanted to explore the history/spirit contained in them by presenting a staged or cinematic moment, a narrative within a conceptual context - it is the potential of the photograph, like a dream, to suspend time and transform space.

I live in Samos, Greece and was a mixed media artist, though I don't see the point since I discovered a medium format camera.
These were shot with a YashicaD and kodak160NC
