UNPUBLISHED: Old Man and the Sea

In 1952, LIFE sent legendary photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt to Cuba to shoot author Ernest Hemingway. The magazine needed photos to run alongside a new novella that would run in LIFE before it was published in book format. That book was "The Old Man and the Sea," and the issue of LIFE where it was first printed went on to sell 5.3 million copies in two days. For years afterward, Eisenstaedt would refer to the experience of shooting "Papa" Hemingway as his most difficult assignment ever. Recently, LIFE discovered these photos, all but two of which have never been seen: LIFE's editors opted to print illustrations based on the pictures rather than the pictures themselves. here

Cameras are wonderful little contraptions.
People who shoot film simply do because they choose to, and the Photo Culture of Tokyo is full of film camera users.

Handcoloring black & white

Handcoloring (also known as handtinting) has been around for nearly as long as photography itself, and first gained its popularity as the ONLY way to make a color photograph. Now, with color photography so firmly entrenched, many people find it very odd that anyone still handcolors photographs. From time to time I'm asked, "Why go to all that trouble when you could just shoot color film?

The Impossible Film

From now on I will refer to PX100 as TIF (The impossible Film) after having done some testing I have to come to the conclusion that TIF has nothing to do what so ever with "Polaroid" accept for the fact that you need a Polaroid camera for it.
TIF has only one (1) look and feel, it is very difficult to handle, and it seems that there is no consisted result. It looks that every sheet of film has a mind of it's own.

To work with funny contraptions for keeping the film from normal daylight, UV filters, Flash, baked for about 1 minute in the oven and blow dryers, and with a price of 18 euro's per pack, you get this weird feeling that you are a part of a hype and it is really not worth the hassle.

Of course the TIP people did a great job, but this film has to become more stable.
I do not even want to think about a 600 or color film.

 I am not impressed.
