The Last
My Mother, 21-07-1923 till 29-07-2010

The last picture of my mother, during my last visit.
5 days later she peacefully passed away.

That day, on my way to her, I had stumbled across a plastic bin in front of
a photo-dealer. There in I found a nearly unused Pentax Spotmatic with
a 1.4/50 for only 15 Swiss Francs (about $13.-),
I bought it with a film and off I went.
The lightmeter was not working because the old PX400 had been empty
since a long time. So exposure was guess-work only.
But it felt good about having such a nice little camera in my hands.
And so unobstrusively to operate-marvellous; even with one hand; and with
one finger to pull the focus.

With this camera in hand a very intense atmosphere between my mother
and me established - unsentimental, interacting concentration,
somehow prospective...
I think she liked it a lot, not only because she knew that I always feel well
when I make photographs. It was a being together what was highly active,
intimate and dense - The Last.
